Today I'm doing something a little different. I'm going to be in front of the camera instead of behind it. Think about how much you hate being in front of the camera, then double it. That's how we photographers feel being photographed.
As I'm getting ready for my session, I'm thinking about all the flaws in how I look and how to try to avoid them on camera. I need to make sure I move my head to the right angle to make my face not so horribly round. No giant smiles- I don't like my teeth.
The truth is that I'm just like many of my clients- insecure with the way I look, and therefore dreading seeing myself in a photo. But I ran across something interesting in my Facebook newsfeed today. Take a look at how this photographer overcame her fear of being in front of the camera.
Read it here.
Does that article make you feel a little better about your flaws? That maybe they aren't as big of a deal as you think? Reminds me a lot of this clip from Dove's Real Beauty Campaign.
I just thought I'd write this today as a little reminder to us all, especially myself, that we're more beautiful than we think. Don't let your negative perceptions of yourself keep you from feeling beautiful. Don't let it keep you from taking photos with family and friends. You are beautiful.
